Ah, the sweet, fresh scent of new pone in the gallery. It just can't be beat.

In this fun little still, we've got Shining Armor and Big Mac hoof-wrestling over a barrel of Sweet Apple Acres cider. With moral support close by, the struggle ends exactly as Applejack predicted. Twily is a bit stunned that her big bro actually lost a round of hoof-wrestling, this instance quite possibly this being the first time he has ever been defeated in the noble sport. She's probably less shocked than worried about how he's dealing with it... Big Mac doesn't gloat in his victory, but that doesn't stop him from feeling a bit smug. After all, it's not everyday you can say that you've bested royalty.

Had quite a bit of fun working with the characters and posing them in the shot. Oddly enough, this is also the very first time that I've drawn Big Mac. On that note, this piece was excellent practice for male pone construction/anatomy. I also had a lot of fun posing Twily over there, what with her hooves and droopy wings and all.

UPDATE (3-16-13):After consulting a professional plastic surgeon about Big Mac's smarmy-good-lookin' face, I decided to go ahead and redraw his muzzle a little bit to give it that fresher, more canonical look. I think it looks gobs better than the first iteration, so I wanted to make sure I got that big pone updated on here. The original, unmodified one I posted can be found at a more licentious location.
